i have xdirectfb installed. an emerge -up world gives me the following error: !!! all ebuilds that could satisfy "virtual/x11" have been masked. !!! (dependency required by "net-www/mozilla-1.2.1-r5" [ebuild]) !!! Problem with ebuild net-www/mozilla-1.2.1-r5 !!! Possibly a DEPEND/*DEPEND problem. !!! Depgraph creation failed. so, i unmerge xdirectfb since it -is- an unstable ebuild. and there should be no stable xdirectfb builds unmasked for -u purposes. now all i have installed is a stable xfree... ayanami x11-base # ls /var/db/pkg/x11-base/ opengl-update-1.5 xfree-4.2.1-r2 and yet i still get the same error: ayanami x11-base # emerge world -up These are the packages that I would merge, in order: Calculating world dependencies | !!! all ebuilds that could satisfy "virtual/x11" have been masked. !!! (dependency required by "net-www/mozilla-1.2.1-r5" [ebuild]) the only installed x is stable, or should be, and there are unmasked stable builds for xfree: ayanami x11-base # emerge xfree -p These are the packages that I would merge, in order: Calculating dependencies ...done! I suspect that whatever is causing this is the source of my problem as well. For the last week or more, every time I've tried to perform an "emerge -uUpv world", I get a message like the following: These are the packages that I would merge, in order: Calculating dependencies \ !!! all ebuilds that could satisfy "virtual/opengl" have been masked. !!! (dependency required by "kde-base/kdegraphics-3.1.1a-r1" [ebuild]) !!! Error calculating dependancies. Please correct. The packages are different from time to time, but the "masked" package is always a "virtual/..." ebuild. I'm not sure what info would be most useful here, so I've posted my "emerge info" output, as did the OP. If it makes a difference, I've also been using the portage overlay directory a lot recently, as I've been writing some ebuilds. root # emerge info Portage 2.0.47-r10 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.2.2, glibc-2.3.1-r4) ================================================================= System uname: 2.4.20-Carnage_2003-04-09 i686 AMD Athlon(TM) XP1800+ GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.oregonstate.edu/ http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/Lin ux/distributions/gentoo" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /var/qmail/control /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share /config /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/3.1/share/config /usr/share/texmf/tex/ge neric/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/config" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/env.d" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" USE="x86 oss 3dnow apm avi crypt cups encode gif jpeg gnome libg++ mikmod mmx mp eg ncurses nls pdflib png quicktime spell truetype xml2 xmms xv zlib gtkhtml als a gdbm berkdb slang readline arts tetex bonobo svga tcltk java guile mysql postg res X sdl gpm tcpd pam libwww ssl perl python esd imlib oggvorbis gtk qt kde mot if opengl mozilla ldap cdr" COMPILER="gcc3" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=i686 -pipe" CXXFLAGS="" ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" MAKEOPTS="-j2" AUTOCLEAN="yes" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" FEATURES="sandbox ccache"
