I just updated binutils to 2.18. I rebuilt the toolchain twice and am now rebuilding system, but ran into this problem when rebuilding sandbox 1.2.18.1: checking for i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc... i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc checking for C compiler default output file name... configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables See `config.log' for more details. !!! ERROR in sys-apps/sandbox-1.2.18.1: I will attach config.log, but the part showing the error is: configure:2250: checking for C compiler version configure:2253: i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc --version </dev/null >&5 gcc-config error: i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc wrapper: Could not determine which compiler to use. I should mention I'm 40 packages or so into rebuilding system and no other package has failed a rebuild yet. I am also using paludis rather than emerge, and have been for about two months.
Also make sure you've enabled IA32 emulation in kernel. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 135688 ***
Thanks. FYI, I do have IA32 emulation enabled.
