azureus needs an init script for use with rc,  perhaps a new use flag should be introduced that would make a user and group for azureus, along with a home directory.  And set UI="console" in the gentoo.config.  see http://gentoo-wiki.com/Azureus#Post_Installation_Configuration

So basically you would want support for the web interface? That is bug 94019 so marking as duplicate.
