Description M. Edward Borasky 2007-07-22 01:31:22 UTC
I've got k3b 1.0.2. When I try to burn a DVD from an ISO image, it writes the DVD and reports success and ejects the DVD. But then, it can't reload it and the subsequent verify aborts as a result.

This happens on two different machines and burners (one built in and the other USB). I haven't tried it with CDs yet, and I haven't tried it with a non-ISO-image burn.

Debugging output and console logs attached:

why is media-tv CC on this? Maybe you meant media-optical.
Comment 3 Tobias Heinlein (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-07-23 16:13:01 UTC
According to the release notes, this bug is fixed in version 1.0.3. Please test if this is still an issue in 1.0.3.

k3b-1.0.4 has been released. Is this problem still present in the new version?

This happens in k3b-1.0.4 as well. Actually in k3b-1.0.3 it worked for me just fine and in 1.0.4 I ran into this problem.

This bug is still there, however, I just turned off eject before verify and it works great. As I recall the 'eject before verify' option was put back because not ejecting seemed to have a prob.

I've contacted upstream directly about this but didn't get a response. Please file an upstream bug for this and add its URL here.

I have the same problem with k3b-1.0.4.

There is a patch posted on KDE bugzilla, which is reported to solve this problem:

I've fixed this in 1.0.4-r1 which I've just committed to CVS.

From ebuild Changelog:

  13 Jun 2008; Carsten Lohrke <carlo@gentoo.org>
  +files/k3b-1.0.5-desktop-entry.diff, +k3b-1.0.5-r1.ebuild:
Fix .desktop entry stuff properly, get rid of the seemingly improper patch
for bug #186173, see also bug #221177.

However, it seems like the patch for bug #186173 was not so improper at all. Without it, verification does not work on my computer, though everything's fine on another computer (k3b-1.0.5-r2).

If I apply the patch everything works as expected. Maybe the patch could be applied by the ebuild again?
