As of Metalog version 0.8_rc4, all daemons writing to syslog hang after attempting to write a log entry. Once the daemons hang, they cannot be stopped using normal methods, and even using 'shutdown -r now' cannot reboot server. Downgrading to 0.8_rc1-r2 resolves the issue. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Install metalog 0.8 or metalog 0.8_rc4 2.Log in using SSH. Terminate SSH session and try to log in again. Observe that you cannot log in. 3.At this point, you won't be able to log in with anything, including the console. 4.Reboot server. Actual Results: After reboot and login as root, observe that NOTHING has been written to any of the logs by any application that uses syslog. Expected Results: Applications using syslog facilities should not hang. It is possible (indeed likely) that there is something unique in my configuation that is causing a problem. I will be delighted to provide whatever configuration files are necessary to help resolve this issue.
Created attachment 124336 [details] /etc/conf.d/metalog This is my /etc/conf.d/metalog file
Created attachment 124338 [details] /etc/metalog.conf This is my /etc/metalog.conf
There is no /etc/metalog dir any more, so I know the problem is not caused by conflicting config files.
