Description Robert Cole 2003-03-28 04:04:55 UTC
Would be extremely nice to have a search feature on the online package database
screen just for searching out packages. I know it can be done with emerge but
often I want to go to the package home page and currently I use emerge -s find
out where it's at then bring up a browser and go the it in the online database
and then click to go to the home page. It's a bit of a chore.

Bringing back the "old style" list works too since I often used that and the
browsers ability to search the page but even that was a pain because one had to
go back to the new list and go to the package there and then click the packages
home page link.

Reproducible: Always

Please oh please can we have a search feature? :)

right now, we lack the resources to write a search interface that is scalable to the types of loads that we receive on our web servers.

If someone is willing to write the code and help out with the implementation, we will certainly look at implementing this suggestion.
