I have the same problem with skype-1.4.0.74

qt-4.2.3-r1 compiled with (-accessibility cups dbus -debug doc -examples -firebird gif glib -input_devices_wacom jpeg -mng mysql -nas -nis -odbc opengl pch png -postgres -qt3support sqlite sqlite3 -xinerama zlib)

As Jakub mentioned (the referenced bug), qt needs to be compiled with 'accessibility' use flag turned on to make skype work.

I recompiled qt4 with accessibility, but I still get the same error:

Well, this ebuild needs a serious rewrite. I'll attach a fixed ebuild to Bug 182248.

The revamped ebuild attached to Bug 182248 re-adds the check

@humpback: you need to package.use.force static on amd64; letting ebuild die really sucks.
