Using wxGTK+-2.8.4.0 in an overlay from ebuild here: bug: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=145884 ebuild: http://bugs.gentoo.org/attachment.cgi?id=121500 Installed and working properly (using wxGTK-2.8 for filezilla), with unicode support enabled. Unfortunately, only have amd64 boxes so I'm not sure if this applies to x86 as well, although I'm assuming it does. I'm not sure if this is an amule ebuild related issue, if amule just doesn't work yet with wxGTK, or if the wxGTK ebuild is missing something. svn releases are already 2.8 compatible (or better...are 2.8 ONLY compatible) there should be a patch to compile with 2.8 as well
I was aware that the svn versions have support for wxGTK-2.8* and that the patches exist, I was just hoping we could add the patch to amule-2.1.3-r1 or alter the ebuild to require =x11-libs/wxGTK-2.6* (preferably the former).
