As it seems that there is now a vdr ebuild in the "official" tree... I made a vdr-ebuild a few months ago, you can find in here: http://stud3.tuwien.ac.at/~e0026479/ This ebuild includes: vdr uses environment variables for configuration in the Makefile, this ebuild uses them The ebuild will patch vdr wich the ElchiAIO3- and the AC3overDVB-patch if wanted (These two things are controlled via a env. variable VDR_OPTS, see the site for details) An init script A conf.d file A new "runvdr"-script that reads the settings from conf.d/vdr A script "installvdrplugin" for easy installation of the plugins On the site mentioned above, you'll find a better explaination how to use the ebuild. I'm sure that it need a cleanup but it would be nice to see improvements in the "official" ebuild based on mine. btw, theres another vdr-ebuild around, you find it in the cvs from gentoo.de (The conf.d stuff is taken from that ebuild). There are also ebuilds for various plugins.

This topic is worked on. Version 1.3.27 is in portage, but masked cause of missing startscript and some minor other things.
vdr-1.3.27 is in portage with an additional scripts package (named gentoo-vdr-scripts containing startscripts and more things) which is not yet complete. It is usable if you do not need auto-shutdown and wakeup. This will be added in some of the next versions of gentoo-vdr-scripts.
