Description Jukka Ruohonen 2007-05-17 04:43:28 UTC
A humble request for removal due

1. Upstream is dead - from the homepage of the project: "2007-2-13: FireFlier officially abandoned: Due to time reasons of the developpers this project is now officially abandoned. It has been inactive for quite some time, now it is time to terminate it."

2. The ebuild needs maintenance: for instance, the state match (IP_NF_MATCH_STATE) has been NETFILTER_XT_MATCH_STATE for quite some time in recent kernels.

1. Was concluded to be invalid on irc.

2. For this, the only real error in the ebuild is the mentioned one,
IP_NF_MATCH_STATE => NETFILTER_XT_MATCH_STATE.

Though I would, by looking at 2.6.20, perhaps mention also the required module for NETFILTER_XT_MATCH_STATE, that is, NF_CONNTRACK_ENABLED. And if connection tracking is to be done with IPv4, it should be at least informed that NF_CONNTRACK_IPV4 should be enabled. I would also note NETFILTER_XTABLES and IP_NF_FILTER that are needed in most cases for a very minimal netfilter-capability. "Modules needed dieing" because of the latter two is of course not needed.

3. These are not definite: the officially supported gentoo-sources starts at the time of writing this from 2.6.16-r13. Due to the difficulties in keeping an uniform requirement list for many kernel versions and rapidly changing netfilter modules, perhaps the die-part could be removed and the eerror-parts be replaced with einfos.

4. Otherwise ok.
