Please note this is not a Duplicate of BUG ID#17396 but would appear to be more related to library libebook.so and not the gtkhtml. I would have reopend the old bug 17817 but could not see an option to do so. please find a copy of the original bug text below I have been running evolution 1.2 for the last couple of months, today when I start the appication the following Error window is displayed: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cannot activate component OAFIID:GNOME_Evolution_Addressbook_ShellComponent: The error from the activation is: Child process did not give an error message, unknown failure occured ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- By then clicking OK evolution starts, however I cannot write or reply to any emails i recieve as n error is then displayed, the below error appears immediatly after clicking the New button: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- COuld not create composer window: Unable to activate address selector control. The error from the activation system is: Child proces did not give an error message, unknown failure occured --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. I am running gentoo 1.2 on an IBM t22 pentium3 laptop. Evolution 1.2 is the first Evolution installation made on this machine, the system was fine untill yesterday when after an emerge -u world seemed to break it. I have this morning re-emerged evolution this made no difference to the application which is still in a broken state. Other than not being able to reply/write emails the appication seems fine. It appears that any window which will invoke/tie into the addressbook dialogue will fail. Cheers, Danny
Please close as duplicate. I have just unmerged evolution and remerged the application again. This has changed the error message to that seen in bud ID#17396. I guess as the application is producing a different error message this is now a duplicate bug. Apologies for any time wasting, I am emerging gtkhtml hopefully this will solve the problem. Cheers, Danny
