USE-flags are growing and growing. On a recent look into ufed I found out that some of them might be duplicated: amd: Could be replace by automount plugins: Could be replaced by plugin amuled: Should be replaced by daemon cdsound: Might be replaces by cdaudio clamd: Not sure if it could be replaces by clamav german: Should be autodetermined based on LINGUAS evo: Should be replaced by eds Reproducible: Always
Slowly starting to attack this. 3 packages use plugins, and 2 use plugin...so lets see if the people that use plugin will agree to use plugins :) web-apps and graphics: pp-editors/cssed/cssed-0.4.0-r1.ebuild plugin media-gfx/inkscape/inkscape-0.44.1.ebuild gnome mmx bonobo inkjar lcms boost doc plugin spell media-gfx/inkscape/inkscape-0.44.ebuild gnome mmx bonobo inkjar lcms boost doc plugin spell media-gfx/inkscape/inkscape-0.45.ebuild gnome mmx bonobo inkjar lcms boost doc plugin spell
Games team: could we replace this with cdaudio: games-fps/darkplaces:cdsound - Enables using CD audio in the engine german: games-strategy/x2 should be a LINGUAS thing
the german use flag isn't used. I removed it. There's no cdaudio global use flag and the way the current local use flags called cdaudio are used isn't consistent so I don't see a compelling reason to change the cdsound flag in darkplaces right now.
(In reply to comment #1) > media-gfx/inkscape/inkscape-0.44.1.ebuild gnome mmx bonobo inkjar lcms boost > doc plugin spell > media-gfx/inkscape/inkscape-0.44.ebuild gnome mmx bonobo inkjar lcms boost doc > plugin spell > media-gfx/inkscape/inkscape-0.45.ebuild gnome mmx bonobo inkjar lcms boost doc > plugin spell removed old versions of inkscape - so there is no plugin USE-flag anymore.
Still remaining are: web-apps: app-editors/cssed/cssed-0.4.0-r1.ebuild plugin Could this become plugins? net-p2p these use amuled, could it be changed to daemon? net-p2p/amule-2.1.3 net-p2p/amule-2.2.0_pre20070422 net-p2p/amule-2.2.0_pre20080101
amule fixed
And what about: networking: Could be replaced by network net: Could be replaced by network
(In reply to comment #5) > app-editors/cssed/cssed-0.4.0-r1.ebuild plugin done
There's more, check out bug #206287 and comments #15 and #18-20. This looks like a real mess.
Noone working on this, chances are high the situation has changed massively in the last 2 years, closing.
