It seems that login.app is dead and gone. The homepage is not reachable anymore. The last update to tree was 17 months ago. It would be a good idea to remove it and replace it with its successor slim, which is already in sunrise. http://slim.berlios.de/ http://overlays.gentoo.org/proj/sunrise/browser/sunrise/x11-misc/slim http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107526 There is also another lightweight login-manager out there, it is called "enter" see: http://enter.sourceforge.net/ http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=172739 I can not speak for enter as i have not tested it yet, but slim is quite useful, especially for xcfe-users who don't want to install gdm or kdm with it`s dependencies. Okay there is xdm, but is is rather ugly. Image you have a nice splash theme at startup and a nice configured desktop and between the xdm login manager.
