Description Alin Năstac (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-03-27 11:40:02 UTC
In chapter 6 user is advised to install rp-pppoe if he has a PPPoE connection. That is obsolete. The documentation should advertise the PPP baselayout net module, capable of handling any kind of point-to-point links.

The only package that a user must have in order to use baselayout PPP module for a PPPoE connection is net-dialup/ppp and of course the appropriate kernel support. Unfortunately, the whole documentation on the matter is represented by net.example file and the pppd manual page. :(

Also, in chapter 3 user is instructed to install rp-pppoe. I don't know if on a current livecd you could setup a PPPoE connection using the baselayout support, but if you can, this chapter should be updated.
