As per the recent discussion[1] on gentoo-dev, and more precisely this post[2] packages that put stuff in /lib/rcscripts should use /$(get_libdir)/rcscripts instead. Here is a possibly incomplete list of currently affected packages: app-benchmarks/bootchart app-crypt/truecrypt net-dns/avahi net-misc/udhcp sys-apps/baselayout (baselayout already has bug #172370 open) sys-apps/baselayout-vserver sys-apps/lcdsplash sys-fs/clvm sys-fs/cryptsetup sys-fs/cryptsetup-luks sys-fs/devfsd sys-fs/device-mapper sys-fs/lvm2 sys-fs/lvm-user sys-fs/udev sys-process/daemontools-scripts [1] http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.gentoo.devel/47435 [2] http://article.gmane.org/gmane.linux.gentoo.devel/47441
net-misc/udhcp (embedded) revision 1.1 date: 2004-11-23 13:02:58 -0800; author: vapier; state: Exp; branches: 1.1.1; embedded owns it now ----- vapier mind getting this one then?
sys-fs/udev done.
app-crypt/truecrypt done.
app-benchmarks/bootchart net-misc/udhcp sys-apps/lcdsplash
sys-process/daemontools-scripts done
Here's an updated list of the ones that are a problem still: eclass/toolchain.eclass net-dns/avahi net-misc/udhcp (has a version in the tree that still does it, but a newer revision is stable) sys-devel/gcc-3.2.3-r4 sys-devel/gcc/files/fix_libtool_files.sh:AWKDIR="/lib/rcscripts/awk" sys-fs/clvm sys-fs/lvm2 sys-fs/devfsd sys-fs/cryptsetup sys-fs/lvm-user sys-fs/device-mapper sys-fs/cryptsetup-luks sys-process/daemontools-scripts
Removing embedded and adding spanky who has been maintaining udhcp.
(In reply to comment #7) > Removing embedded and adding spanky who has been maintaining udhcp. > Seems spanky wasn't added after all so doing that.
net-dns/avahi done

this bug is being rewrangled into a TRACKER bug. individual bug reports for the remaining packages will be filed in a minute. please readd yourself, if removing you from the TRACKER bug is not what you want. thanks.
Thilo, You're more then welcome to fix it. All the bugs you created are for packages all owned by base-system and all the members of base-system agreed that the change should be made but we haven't had the time.
thanks, mondo bugs are a mess
