I emerged electricsheep and downloaded a sheep pack from http://sheepserver.dreamhosters.com/. This was unzipped into ~/.sheep, forming subfolders based on their package numbers. Running electricsheep works initially, but over time some of the .mpg's get deleted and replaced with empty files whose names end in .xxx but otherwise have the same names as the deleted .mpg. For example, ~/.sheep/2176/00202=71987=69254=71330.mpg, of size 4874756, will be replaced with 00202=71987=69254=71330.xxx, an empty file. This continues until there are only 20 sheep left overall, no matter how many I started with (or in how many folders; the number of all extant .mpg's in all folders under ~/.sheep is 20).What is causing this? Am I doing some sort of update? Downloading new sheep from online? Do I need to change my firewall? What's going on? Are you running electricsheep directly from the command line or from xscreensaver? Either way, look at the --max-megabytes option, you may be overfilling your cache.
sorry don't know whats causing this. hope you work it out.
