Description David Pyke 2007-02-09 02:03:13 UTC
Since we can now select which compressor is used for man pages, it would be good to have an option to use other compressors (like pbzip2) for creating packages.

For dual core or multi-cpu systems, there is a potential savings in time for using pbzip2 over bzip2.

the flexibility with ecompress does not directly translate to anything outside of the internal ebuild environment

Are you talking about the compression used for binary packages? If so, this is a duplicate of bug 142579.

Yep, you're right. I didn't see it when I created this bug.
