Description Justin R. Pessa 2007-01-25 22:31:51 UTC
When installing x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-1.0.9746, generate-modprobe.conf "updates modules by hand" (whatever that means) and proceeds to call itself recursively, eventually using all the system memory. This is a dual-core Opteron with ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64".

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers
2.
3.

Actual Results:
The system hangs at "generate-modprobe.conf is rebuilding modules by hand" or something.

Expected Results:
The process to complete.

I had sync'd and updated world then noticed that gdm was no longer starting. I reemerged nvidia-drivers and then ran into this problem.
