As we're tracking ALSA stabling in bug #158678, the CCed arches should provide a proper sensible default for ALSA_CARDS on their profiles, so that the users aren't left with NO driver built. This was asked last month on gentoo-dev, and only PowerPC okay'd the defaults up to now. Remind that's simpler to provide a shorter default first and then add cards later than having no default at all. For architectures with ISA or PCMCIA buses available: the ebuild now enforces that the correct options has to be enabled in kernel, otherwise it bails out (for the handled cases, it will be the ebuild with a message, PCMCIA now is not handled but the configure will fail in that case, I'm working on it), so you might not want to add cards that requires non-mainline kernel options to be enabled in the configuration.
x86 done. (/me begs FlameEyes for forgiveness)
Kugelfang did this for amd64 on 2006/12/12 already
alpha done
*bump* archetectures reporting fixed- x86 AMD64 alpha nobody else in almost 2 years...can we beat the others with a long noodle or close?
I added a very basic ALSA_CARDS to MIPS' make.defaults. Closing, finally.
