Description wsim 2006-12-19 11:56:37 UTC
This comes up when I try to emerge scrot:

# emerge scrot
Calculating dependencies
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "scrot" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- media-gfx/scrot-0.8 (masked by: corruption)

For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or
refer to the Gentoo Handbook.

I was directed to report a bug here by kojiro on freenode's #gentoo channel.

I have tried cleaning the portage tree and resyncing (and waiting, then trying again), and I get the same thing. The md5sums of the files in the media-gfx/scrot directory in portage are:

5a582107467cce142d168c692e6b8e22 ChangeLog
28c588fec04467ba7940bb68d730fe69 Manifest

This system otherwise appears fine, it's just the scrot ebuild that's borked as far as I can tell. I know I'm using the sparc64 gcc-4.1 dev profile and some interesting CFLAGS/LDFLAGS, but I have 1283 packages successfully installed and no known problems with them so I believe that the toolchain is not at fault here.
Comment 1 Charlie Shepherd (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-12-19 14:07:04 UTC
Thanks, this should be fixed in CVS. Can you wait a couple of hours, resync (no need to remove the whole portage tree) and see if it works?
Comment 2 wsim 2006-12-20 08:08:47 UTC
Still does not work as of 11:07AM EST after a fresh sync.
Comment 3 wsim 2006-12-20 08:50:32 UTC
Seems that this is a portage bug introduced in 2.1.2_rc3-r7 which can be worked around by cleaning /var/cache/edb and running emerge --metadata.
