fix

This is a bug in lirc. This patch sets the work dir in the version checking code and solves the problem. Please add to portage and send upstream.
Comment 5 Matthias Schwarzott gentoo-dev 2006-12-02 07:30:39 UTC
This is fixed in lirc-0.8.0-r8.
Thanks to dsd for the patch, I already sent it to lirc-ML.
Comment 6 Neil Bothwick 2006-12-02 15:47:56 UTC
Thank you. It emerges perfectly now.

Perhaps it helps to unmerge gentoo-sources-2.6.19 gentoo-sources-2.6.19-r1, and then removing /usr/src/linux-2.6.19-gentoo and /usr/src/linux-2.6.19-gentoo-r1.
(Perhaps backup /usr/src/linux-2.6.19-gentoo-r1/.config before)
Then reemerge gentoo-sources-2.6.19-r1 and restart the experiment of compiling lirc.

I've just tried. The error is the same and I've just noticed that it is common to other packages which build using kernel sources (as nvidia-driver).
This happens building against 2.6.19-r1 while there's no problem emerging against 2.6.18-r3 (it applies to lirc and nvidia-drivers too).

Any clue? What kind of information may I offer to help solving the problem?

I've just tried. Unluckely it doesn't fix the problem.
I'm attaching the complete output of emerge lirc and my kernel config.

It seems to be an x86_64 only problem as i have the same problem with alsa-driver-1.0.14_rc1 and it compiles without problems on x86 (see https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=158678)
Comment 18 Thomas Sachau gentoo-dev 2006-12-21 13:23:16 UTC
I also have this problem with actual ndiswrapper
Comment 19 Kai Krakow 2006-12-27 16:59:06 UTC
I'm having this bug since the udev-useflag was removed. It does not recompile now. As far as I read this may be connected to upgraded kernel sources: Using ck-sources-2.6.19-ck2 and I am having this bug.

Reopen to reverse duplicate/original,
To trace the second sandbox violation ("-.gcda") better.
