I emerged app-emulation/wine-0.9.22 in my stable x86 system with ALSA 1.0.12 and it worked like a charm. But, just after updating to ALSA 1.0.13, wine generated a kernel oops and didn't work. I just ran 'emerge wine' and everything worked again. $ emerge --info Portage 2.1.1-r1 (default-linux/x86/2006.1/desktop, gcc-4.1.1, glibc-2.4-r4, 2.6.17-gentoo-r8 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.17-gentoo-r8 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1.80GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.12.6 Last Sync: Wed, 15 Nov 2006 14:50:01 +0000 ccache version 2.3 [enabled] app-admin/eselect-compiler: [Not Present] dev-java/java-config: 1.3.7, 2.0.30 dev-lang/python: 2.4.3-r4 dev-python/pycrypto: 2.0.1-r5 dev-util/ccache: 2.3 dev-util/confcache: [Not Present] sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.17 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.60 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r2 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1-r3 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.3.13-r4 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.22 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.17-r1 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=i686 -mtune=pentium4 -O3 -pipe -fstack-protector" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/share/X11/xkb /var/bind" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/env.d /etc/env.d/java/ /etc/gconf /etc/java-config/vms/ /etc/revdep-rebuild /etc/splash /etc/terminfo /etc/texmf/web2c" CXXFLAGS="-march=i686 -mtune=pentium4 -O3 -pipe -fstack-protector" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs autoconfig candy ccache collision-protect distlocks metadata-transfer parallel-fetch sandbox sfperms strict userpriv usersandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.mirrors.tds.net/gentoo http://open-systems.ufl.edu/mirrors/gentoo http://mirror.espri.arizona.edu/gentoo/ http://cudlug.cudenver.edu/gentoo/ http://ftp.swin.edu.au/gentoo http://distfiles.gentoo.org http://www.ibiblio.org/gentoo http://gentoo.osuosl.org" LANG="es_MX.UTF-8" LINGUAS="es" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS="--recursive --links --safe-links --perms --times --compress --force --whole-file --delete --delete-after --stats --timeout=180 --exclude='/distfiles' --exclude='/local' --exclude='/packages'" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.namerica.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X Xaw3d a52 aac aalib acl acpi alsa apache2 audiofile avahi bash-completion berkdb bitmap-fonts bzip2 cairo caps cdr cli cracklib crypt cscope cups curl dbus dga dlloader dri dv dvd eds elibc_glibc emboss encode esd exif fam fbcon firefox flac foomaticdb fortran gcj gd gdbm gif gimp glut gmp gnome gnutls gphoto2 gpm gstreamer gtk gtkhtml guile hal iconv imagemagick imap imlib input_devices_evdev input_devices_keyboard input_devices_mouse ipv6 isdnlog jack java jbig joystick jpeg kerberos kernel_linux krb4 lcms ldap libcaca libg++ libgda linguas_es logrotate mad mikmod mmx mng mono motif mp3 mpeg mssql mysql ncurses nls nptl nptlonly nsplugin ogg opengl oss pam pcre pda pdf perl pic plotutils png postgres ppds pppd prelude python qt3 quicktime readline reflection samba sasl sdl session slp sndfile snmp speex spell spl sse ssl svg tcpd tetex theora tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts udev unicode usb userland_GNU v4l v4l2 vhosts video_cards_fbdev video_cards_nv video_cards_nvidia video_cards_v4l video_cards_vesa vorbis win32codecs wmf xinerama xml xorg xpm xprint xv xvid zlib" Unset: CTARGET, EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS, INSTALL_MASK, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS
Well, if it works again, then I don't see the point of this bug. :)
(In reply to comment #1) > Well, if it works again, then I don't see the point of this bug. :) > Maybe to add an ewarn to app-emulation/wine to re-emerge after upgrading ALSA? :-)
