Description gentoobug 2006-10-29 15:28:09 UTC
I enter this command, "emerge cone", and the machine mutters for some time and eventually says:

I installed off a live DVD!! attached to APC magazine (apcmag.com), Nov 2006. It says it's 2006.1, but that's not what /etc/gentoo-release says.

I've done "emerge --sync" - it took hours - sucessfully twice, the second just before reproducing this problem.
