Just noting that this old bug is pretty much the same as bug #90618 -- and probably will never get fixed. The treecleaners should probably take this ebuild behind the outhouse and let it out of its misery, just like they did to the net-im/jud one (#90618).
There seems to be a new implementation of this transport at http://xmpppy.sourceforge.net/yahoo/ though its still not fully functional. But maintained. I would make an ebuild, but I'm not so good at that yet.

It also depends on old jabberd (that has been replaced by jabberd2 in major distros like opensuse, fedora or debian)
