/usr/share/hal/scripts/hal-system-power-suspend, which is used by gnome-power-manager, tries different methods to put the computer to sleep state. It tries echo "mem" > /sys/power/state BEFORE /usr/sbin/hibernate-ram This is a bug, since many laptops need to unload some modules etc before going to sleep, so the people use hibernate-ram. Therefore a system with hibernate-ram correctly configured goes to sleep in a wrong way. Just for case /usr/share/hal/scripts/hal-system-power-hibernate does not affected to this bug, since in the last case the order is correct.
