Description Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-10-17 23:47:09 UTC
dev-perl/RPM-0.40-r1: attr(depends): nonexistant atoms [ =app-arch/rpm-4.0.4-r5 ]
Comment 1 Yuval Yaari (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-10-18 00:44:50 UTC
It seriously won't compile with any other version of app-arch/rpm.
There's a slightly different module offered with app-arch/rpm (./configure --with-perl will compile it...).

I have to run to a meeting, but I'll check what depends on dev-perl/RPM and see if it could work with the Perl module that comes with app-arch/rpm.

Yeah, I've mainly filed this for tracking purpose so that I don't forget, my memory sucks you know :) Using the bundled bindings would be preferable solution most likely anyway.

i'm a little disturbed by how this came about, namely because of the lack of qa involved in the act of removing rpm. doing a reverse dep scan shows nothing depping on dev-perl/rpm, so i say we just remove it from the tree and keep our eyes out for qa tools that let devs know they're breaking things before they commit.

package.mask'd for removal

...and now long since removed
