Maybe someone should update this? Latest is 0.8.13...
Comment 2 Marcus D. Hanwell (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-10-12 12:33:31 UTC
Our 0.8.5 is equivalent to 0.8.7 (I helped with patching it to install properly on Gentoo). There seem to have been quite a few releases recently and I have been insanely busy. I am currently getting a failure with GCC 4.1.1 on the old and new version - I will see what I can do but it may have to wait until I can get to it unless anyone else has time to give it some love?
Comment 3 Algardas Pelakauskas 2006-11-08 06:14:34 UTC
from the 0.8.10 ChangeLog:
* made install_portage use Portage overlay for gentoo systems

There's a script called install_portage in the source , which generates an ebuild and puts it in /usr/local/portage/sci-visualization/quickplot/. The generated ebuild has the same contents as the ebuild for quickplot-0.8.5 in portage.

Merging the quickplot-0.8.5 with gcc-4.1.1 gives me the same error as reported previously, but quickplot-0.8.13 merges fine with the same ebuild.

quickplot-0.8.13.ebuild

New ebuild for 0.8.13. Built and started without noticable problems on my system.

Well I emailed Lance about this issue as I couldn't see how to fix it myself. He said he would look into it but then I never heard anything back from him. As devaway notes I am busy writing up at the moment (if anyone else wants to fix/bump stuff for me they can) and this is the first chance I have had to try and catch up on Gentoo bugs.

The new version compiles great here - I have bumped the version in portage.
