Description Richard Benjamin Voigt 2006-10-03 16:48:50 UTC
Had -r2, was working great, after emerge -uavD world vmware is broken.

VMware Server Error:
VMware Server unrecoverable error: (vmui)
SSLLoadSharedLibrary: Failed to load library /opt/vmware/server/lib/bin/libcrypto.so.0.9.7:/opt/vmware/server/lib/bin/libcrypto.so.0.9.7: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

emerge -C and re-emerge didn't fix it.

I see in the changelog that you're fighting some bug related to openssl so I suspect the change that broke me was intentional. I'm guessing the fix you intended to apply is very necessary, it just would be nice if the old ebuild hadn't disappeared from portage so quickly.

I see references to a vmware-libcrypto.so.0.9.7l.tar.bz2 file in the SRC_URI, but no command to extract it, so I'll try and hack that myself.

If the ebuild is working for you then I can post more system information to help resolve this regression, but I think your system already has the right library and the ebuild simply neglects to copy it.

Same problem here with x86. -2 had problems with openssl-0.9.7, now -3 can't find libcrypto.so.0.9.7

-r4 is OK here
Comment 4 Richard Benjamin Voigt 2006-10-06 18:13:02 UTC
Fixed for me as well
