The version of quotient in the tree is old and completely unsupported upstream. They have a rewrite which has had a 0.1.0 release, but I'm pretty sure the first thing they say if you run into issues with that is "use svn". So I think it'd be better to package.mask and remove quotient from the tree until upstream gets the rewrite a bit more stable.
