Gnome has a hard dependancy on seamonkey via epiphany. The fact is any of the Mozilla dirivatives will work for epiphanies base. But masking seamonkey away breaks epiphanies dependancies breaking gnome-base. _______________________________________________________________________________ Rally ~ # emerge --deep --newuse -uvp world These are the packages that would be merged, in order: Calculating world dependencies / !!! All ebuilds that could satisfy ">=www-client/epiphany-2.14.2.1" have been masked. !!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request: - www-client/epiphany-2.14.2.1-r1 (masked by: package.mask) - www-client/epiphany-2.16.0 (masked by: package.mask, package.mask, ~x86 keyword) - www-client/epiphany-2.14.3 (masked by: package.mask, ~x86 keyword) For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or refer to the Gentoo Handbook. (dependency required by "gnome-base/gnome-2.14.2" [ebuild]) !!! Problem resolving dependencies for gnome-base/gnome !!! Depgraph creation failed. _______________________________________________ This should probably be handled via eselect. Since you should be able to mask seamonkey and still install epiphany.
If you really want to know what epiphany supports, please download the tarballs and read through m4/gecko.m4. You will see that epi-2.14 works with mozilla, seamonkey and firefox and epi-2.16 with firefox and xulrunner. If you want, you can just disable the seamonkey use flag, and epi will gladly build against firefox. Please close this bug INVALID. Thanks.
Doing so..
