  synce-gnomevfs-0.9.0.ebuild:
adding gcc4 patch to strip warnings (#135043)

(And no, won't go stable now).

I did an emerge --sync just two hours ago. Please tell me why the problem still persists.

The summary of bug 135043 is "synce-gnomevfs-0.9.0 unable to compile w/ gcc-4.1.1".
How does a patch for gcc 4.1 applies to me using gcc 3.4.5!

I did.
It would be nice if you'd explain or at least point on the fact I missed.

Because the thing has been fixed and compiles just fine?

No, it's fixed for users that use gcc 4.1 as I already told I - and I bet a lot of other users also - do use gcc 3.x. Beside of that it runs for you on a x86 system. Did you try with gcc 3.x and AMD64?

Or is there a dogma which says: "If it runs for Mr. Moc it has to run for everyone?!"

changeing hardware to AMD64 and competing summary to:
"synce-gnomevfs-0.9.0 does not compile using gcc 3.4.5 on AMD64"

adding AMD64 team and Alastair Tse (I guess he's the maintainer for synce-gnomevfs)

and reopening
Comment 11 Simon Stelling (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-09-07 10:23:23 UTC
Attila, the output you pasted in comment #0 doesn't show any error, so we don't know why it aborts. It does show a warning and the -Wall -Werror will make it fail. This however is handled in bug 135043. If you can't find any lines with "error:", then you pretty sure hit bug 135043. Also, please make sure you at least have the CVS revsion 1.5 of the ebuild:

As you can see the patch is applied... Now, if I hit bug 135043 then it's state should be reopened since the problem is not solved then, is it? On the other side that bug explicitly refers to gcc 4.1.

If it might be something else please give me a hint on how to find out why emerge fails.
