alsa rc6 doesn't work for me. so i emerged rc2 and it's working well now. cool. 
following the doc on http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/portage-manual.xml, i added  
=media-sound/alsa-driver-0.9.0_rc2 
to my world file. 
But, emerge -up world still wants to update alsa-driver to rc6. 
i tried removing the =, and removing the whole line, but still portage wants to update it 
(probably because of some kde-related dependencies) 
i can be reached on irc #gentoo or #freehackers as 'orzel' if you wanna have anymore 
information. or mail using my bug account
