Hi, Currently the support for the ALC883 chipset is broken (at least on several acer notebooks, see alsa bug entry 2261), but a patch against alsa-driver-1.0.12_rc3 has been releasad. I modified the 1.0.12_rc1-r1 ebuild (added just one line). The patch itself is pretty straightforward. You might consider adding this to portage until the problem is fixed in alsa-driver mainline. If you don't add this into official portage I will meanwhile try to submit patched ebuilds in this bug entry . Greetings, Momsen
Created attachment 94963 [details] modified alsa-driver ebuild
Created attachment 94964 [details, diff] the actual patch place it in the files directory
Created attachment 94965 [details] updated media-sound/alsa-headers ebuild you will need an updated version of media-sound/alsa-headers, too. This ist just a renamed ebuild of the current version in portage
hi, this pathc is for alsa-driver-1.0.12_rc3, so it don't work for 1.0.12_rc1-r1
Yeah, thats why I appended an ebuild for rc3.
ho, sorry, I haven't understand that thoses ebuilds are 1.0.12-rc3 ('cause looking at $Header...) thx a lot for them. ebuilds are working fine here.
the fix is included in 1.0.13_rc1; for I'm behind a firewall for the next two weeks I'm unable to test it but others have reported that the fix works. therefore I would be happy if 1.0.13_rc1 (or higher) can be marked stable soon.
Close UPSTREAM as it has been fixed already by upstream, I suppose. Reopen if it's not the case.
