/usr/bin/vmware point to /etc/portage/profile/bin/vmware, which doesn't exist. It should actually point ot /opt/vmware/server/bin/vmware.
Well, I have those broken symlinks here as well (and not having any overlay here, as it was causing the weird broken digest bug for me even after it's been fixed in portage) # equery b /usr/bin/vmware* [ Searching for file(s) /usr/bin/vmware,/usr/bin/vmware-server-console in *... ] app-emulation/vmware-server-console-1.0.0.28343 (/usr/bin/vmware-server-console -> /opt/vmware/server/console/bin/vmware-server-console) app-emulation/vmware-server-1.0.0.28343 (/usr/bin/vmware -> /etc/portage/profile/bin/vmware)
Hmmmm (he says, scratching his head)... You're both right, it's entirely the fault of a couple extra lines left in there for no apparent reason that point to completely and utterly the wrong place. Thanks for the heads up, it'll be fixed in the latest version of vmware-server, which should go into CVS later this afternoon, and be unmasked in the middle of next week... 5:)
Thanks for spotting that, this should now be fixed in CVS, and will be hitting the rsync servers in a couple of hours. It's still package masked for a bit of testing, but should be unmasked in the middle of next week. Could you please try it out, and ensure this resolves the issue. Thanks... 5:)
Forgot to mark this as Fixed, but it is...
