I'm attempting to run crossdev -t i386, which requires emerging glibc, which does not seem to want to work and it gives me the above error in the log file.  When I try to emerge cross-i386-pc-linux-gnu/glibc directly, it tells me that it cannot resolve a cirtual package name to an ebuild.

Yes. And nothing we could do about it. Won't work on i386.
