I have this same problem, so I am posting the same things you requested from
the other guy to aide in finding a solution: qpkg -I -v info attached

Comment 4 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2003-01-25 13:11:45 UTC
aight, we are all running nvidia-glx ;)

what happens when you guys run `opengl-update xfree; frozen-bubble` ?

does it work then ?
Comment 5 Philip Walls (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-01-25 18:57:22 UTC
Works fine when using xfree glx :\
Comment 6 Joseph Carter 2003-01-26 11:43:35 UTC
Apparently there are issues with either SDL and NV GLX or with SDL-Perl and NV
GLX. Not sure which yet. Seems that isn't the only problem though,
frozen-bubble freezes seconds into the game for some reason. Can't speculate as
to why this happens.
Comment 7 Joseph Carter 2003-01-26 12:06:15 UTC
-ns (no sound) seems to fix it, so something is possibly wrong with sdl-mixer on
my system (or in general..)
Comment 8 Joseph Carter 2003-01-26 12:20:39 UTC
TuxRacer works with NV GLX and SDLmixer, so therefore sdl-perl or frozen-bubble
itself must be the problem. I chose TuxRacer as a test of SDLmixer because it
uses the same form of audio as frozen-bubble: mikmod mixed background music with
wav sound effects mixed in.

It was also an effective demonstration that SDL and NV GLX were not broken together.
Comment 9 Michael Dale Long 2003-01-26 13:48:58 UTC
Running 'opengl-update xfree' fixed the problem for me. I'm running with the nvidia
drivers.

*** Bug 12022 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Comment 11 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2003-02-03 02:42:06 UTC
ok, i added a warning about the segfaults + nvidia to the ebuild
Comment 12 Alexander Jenisch 2004-09-28 05:50:52 UTC
this is supposed to be solved? just by adding a note for nvidia driver users? ah common, there must be a more convenient way to solve this.
