This is the kio slave found in SuSE that displays system information in 'My Computer'. Example image of kde-misc/kio-sysinfo running on Gentoo: https://www.cs.tcd.ie/~furlongm/images/sysinfo.jpg

Ummm .. doesn't compile cleanly /here/: * ftp.opensuse.org is currently down. Inserting an opensuse mirror instead solves the problem. * depends on kde-base/kdebase-kioslaves, that breaks the ebuild for people who installed kde-base/kdebase. Solution: Replace kde-base/kdebase-kioslaves with kde-base/kdebase, I don't know how to select the right one automatically. * hd.h isn't found, this is due to missing dependency sys-apps/hwinfo. As I couldn't install hwinfo-13.0 but only -8.38, I'll investigate further before adding the dependency.
Created attachment 94819 [details] Fixed ebuild Changed ebuild dependencies to let you use kde-base/kdebase instead of kde-base/kdebase-kioslaves. If neither are installed it will use kdebase-kioslaves.
Created attachment 107821 [details] kio-sysinfo-3.5.5.ebuild updated ebuild for 3.5.5, added hwinfo as a dependency
I'd like to show you the pardis port of SuSe's sysinfo kio slave. It compiles very smoothly, has no real deps (as far as i can see), and also includes some translations (de, br, and more).

This is now in the sunrise overlay. You can find it at: http://overlays.gentoo.org/svn/proj/sunrise/reviewed/kde-misc/kio-sysinfo/
(this is an automated message based on filtering criteria that matched this bug) 'EBUILD' is in the KEYWORDS which should mean that there is a ebuild attached to this bug. This bug is assigned to maintainer-wanted which means that it is not in the main tree. Heuristics show that no Gentoo developer has commented on your ebuild. Hello, The Gentoo Team would like to firstly thank you for your ebuild submission. We also apologize for not being able to accommodate you in a timely manner. There are simply too many new packages. Allow me to use this opportunity to introduce you to Gentoo Sunrise. The sunrise overlay[1] is a overlay for Gentoo which we allow trusted users to commit to and all users can have ebuilds reviewed by Gentoo devs for entry into the overlay. So, the sunrise team is suggesting that you look into this and submit your ebuild to the overlay where even *you* can commit to. =) Because this is a mass message, we are also asking you to be patient with us. We anticipate a large number of requests in a short time. Thanks, On behalf of the Gentoo Sunrise Team, Jeremy.
