Description John Herdy 2006-07-06 20:10:07 UTC
i noticed that the spellcheck wizzard in openoffice 2.0.3 has been removed by the gentoo developers and replaced by myspell ebuilds. would you be so kind to put it back? the myspell dictionary for my language is, how do i say it nicely, less then optimal (it sucks big time). the dictionary from the openoffice spellcheck wizzard for my language is perfectly. due to this change i had to search for one hour on the internet where and how to install my spellcheck language files without the wizzard. i hope to prevent this for other users. thanks!

Not going to do this, file a bug for using another myspell-dictionary for your language instead. That's the right solution, doubling stuff is not.

I have the same problem as well for the Dutch language. It seems eselect oodict doesn't generate a complete dictionary.lst

I have emerged myspell-nl and the following files are created in /usr/lib/openoffice/share/dict/ooo

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 614 2006-07-08 11:30 dictionary.lst
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root  33 2006-07-08 11:30 hyph_nl_NL.dic -> /usr/share/myspell/hyph_nl_NL.dic
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root  29 2006-07-08 11:30 nl_med.aff -> /usr/share/myspell/nl_med.aff
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root  29 2006-07-08 11:30 nl_med.dic -> /usr/share/myspell/nl_med.dic
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root  28 2006-07-08 11:30 nl_NL.aff -> /usr/share/myspell/nl_NL.aff
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root  28 2006-07-08 11:30 nl_NL.dic -> /usr/share/myspell/nl_NL.dic

the contents of dictionary.lst is
DICT nl NL nl_med
HYPH nl NL hyph_nl_NL

Notice that nl_NL.dic isn't used. Maybe John has the same problem. Language packs with multiple dic-files are not completely activated. I'm not able to reopen this bug.

If that is the case, open a seperate bug, this would be a problem with eselect-oodict and not directly with openoffice (which have different maintainers). No need to reopen this bug, though.
