On my system the new baselayout version breaks my vmware-workstation. Falling back to sys-apps/baselayout-1.11.14-r8 fixes the problem. When starting vmware-config.sh, the vmware processes are started correctly, but trying to restart it again (e.g. during a reboot) failes as if it was not properly configured.
