kernel-2.6.17-gentoo does not have "CONFIG_HDLC", but it has "CONFIG_N_HDLC". I have "CONFIG_N_HDLC" enabled in the kernel, but I still get this error. There is a CONFIG_HDLC in ./drivers/net/wan/Kconfig It requires WAN to be enables before it is visible. You should be able to find it from: Network Device Support ->Network Devices -> Wan Interfaces -> Generic HDLC layer Let us know if you have any problems.
