Description Doug Goldstein (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-06-26 20:00:49 UTC
Currently we have 0.4.0-r2 stable. That won't work with any kernels in the tree. 0.4.5 will work with 2.6.15. 0.6.3 will work with 2.6.16. (but I just added 0.6.3). Nothing works with 2.6.17 currently. Please stablize 0.4.5 so I can get rid of the old broken version.

I am using 0.4.5 with 2.6.15-r1 for about a week with mythtv and a PVR-250 and I didn't notice any problem yet.

Well since I run ivtv on amd64 and there's been no answer for 13 days. I'm going to handle this myself.

Also going to handle this for x86 since I know tons of myth users that use it and it's fine for them.

Plus it's frustrating to have the ivtv module completely broken against the stable kernel.

Since 2.6.16 is stable, I'm going to even mark 0.6.3 as stable since that's the ivtv module that cooresponds. When 2.6.17 goes stable I'll be marking 0.7.0 as stable.

Having these TV cards is fairly specialised, as far as I know I am the only one on the amd64 team with a TV card on an amd64 box. It was on my list but I have been pretty busy with real life recently.

I think it would have been a little more polite to ask, but I personally am happy for you to mark this module stable on amd64 - the arch team leads would probably be the ones to ask though... When I have the time I am also more than happy to test the module and mark it, but my time is very limited right now.

I own every single Hauppauge model card. I have 2 of them plugged into an amd64 box and it's the box I do the development of the drivers on.

I have 1 card plugged into a x86 box and 1 in a ppc box.

This bug was the request as well.

Doug, please feel free to mark any further versions stable on amd64. it really doesn't make much sense if we can't test it seriously (just make sure it merges fine with FEATURES=multilib-strict please :)

Cardoe, you've had x86 permission for mythtv and stuff like ivtv as long as you have the hardware and no one on the team has it as well. As far as I can recall no one currently on the team has a mythtv or haupauge card setup. I have a card "somewhere" I'm just not entirely sure where that somewhere is.
