Description Michal Suchanek 2006-06-13 04:43:24 UTC
One example:
There is a package that wants virtual/xft.
I have masked <virtual/xorg-7.0 to disable installation of non-modular xorg.
There is a package virtual/xft-6.8, and virtual/xft - some later version, masked by ~x86.
virtual/xft-6.8 depends on <=xorg-6.99.something.

I emerge world. Portage tells me that all versions of xorg satisfying <=xorg-6.99.something are masked, and that it is a dependency of virtual/xft-6.8.

equery gives me a half dozen of packages that depend on virtual/xft. They are quite new so it is apparently not an outdated dependency.

Now what?

Portage does not allow searching for virtual packages. Even if it did, it does not return masked packages. So how do I tell that I should keyword virtual/xft unless somebody who knows about the package tells me?
