Now you must run 'make'.

If you compile perl5 on a different machine or from a different object
directory, copy the Policy.sh file from this object directory to the
new one before you run Configure -- this will help you with most of
the policy defaults.

Your missing /dev/null

Comment 3 p0 2006-05-27 09:30:12 UTC
@#2: Thats not the point i think:

# ls -la null zero
-rw-rw-rw- 1 root root    2 May 27 18:23 null
crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 1, 5 Oct 22  2000 zero
Comment 4 p0 2006-05-27 09:32:33 UTC
Just after posting my reply is saw that /den/null is not a device. its a file. how can this be? i'm using udev !
Comment 5 p0 2006-05-27 09:37:30 UTC
I've deleted and recreated my /dev/null via:
# cd /dev && MAKEDEV std

This solution works 4 me.

The question is: Why does my /dev/null disapear? Just after system start my udev creates a correct /dev/null device node.
Comment 6 Michael Cummings (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-27 09:45:04 UTC
Not sure how it happened to be honest - we've seen this bug pop up before, usually when creating stage1->3 installs (not after the fact). At least on the upside I'm not crazy :)
