This version supports kernel 2.6.[15|16] and should be bumped. Please note that the version has the "-1" appendixed, therefore simply copying over the ebuild did not work out.

Difference between the 0.7.2 ebuild and the 0.7.4 ebuild

Hi, here's a diff to show what needs changing between the 0.7.2 ebuild and the 0.7.4 ebuild. I realise adding the -1 in manually is a pain, but I couldn't see a much better way of doing it, 0.7.4.1 didn't seem like the right route to go, but I could be wrong.

Also note this no longer need the modular X patch, it'll install it in the correct place, but please note it's installing in /usr/X11R6/lib... rather than /usr/lib... Since X11R6 is a symlink, it'd be best to install it direct to /usr/lib but I didn't get that far.

The reason I've posted this is because with the recent patch to fix mousewheel inversion (in >=gentoo-sources-2.6.16-r8 and >=vanilla-sources-2.6.17-rc2) actually *causes* mousewheel inversion, if you're still using the linuxwacom-0.7.2 driver...

Hope this helps, if there's anything else I can help with, let me know... 5:)

0.7.4-2 is out now... I managed to hack together a bit of an ebuild, but it's that -N bit on the version number that messes things up. 0.7.4_p2 might be the more appropriate way of handling it -- realistically it's a patchlevel rather than a full release.

I'll knock up a suitable ebuild in a moment. Upstream seem to have looked after the modular X issue, so that patch shouldn't be necessary now... however, I don't run modular X (Yeah, I'm very conservative about that on production machines).

I'd commit it... but I don't want to step on anybody's toes. I also don't want to break anyone's machine. (WORKSFORME isn't exactly good QA, better someone more knowledgeable checks it out ;-) Any thoughts from the x11-drivers people?

I too would like to see this package bumped, as the older drivers don't recognise my Graphire 4 tablet.

Updated ebuild: linuxwacom-0.7.4_p2.ebuild

I'm compiling the ebuild now... but I've already successfully tested a similar ebuild on another machine, so this should be good to go.

Again, appreciated if one of the x11-drivers people could check it over.

compile error with xorg1.1 AND emerge info

compiles successfully with xorg-server-1.0.2-r6 but fails with x11-base/xorg-server-1.1.0-r1

Adding a blocker. I wasn't certain exactly which way to go with this (new blocks old, or old blocks new), but these are definitely linked...

Has there been any more news on this issue?
Comment 6 Stuart Longland (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-27 06:13:02 UTC
I've managed to get linuxwacom to build against xorg-server-1.1.0-r1... but there was a small change required. I'd like to clean this up (so that it detects the version of xorg-server being used) and submit this upstream.

That said... 0.7.4-3 is out now... and bug# 137851 has the appropriate ebuild for that... which I shall have a look at shortly.

This other bug makes this one redundant, since the other already has the patch for X.org 7.1. Thus, I'll mark this "duplicate" -- since it covers the same issue (bumping the linuxwacom driver).
