in package.mask dev-db/mergent is masked since some time in 2003. since then some new versions have been released.
the current version right now is 0.62 released in august 2005.
i'd love to see that added to portage

if it's still too unstable as the comment in package.mask suggest maybe it should be completely removed from portage (remember: it has been masked for 3 years now)

Well, I don't see mergent or gnome-db in either package.mask or portage, not in cvs attic. Really don't see what you mean here...

mergeant, not mergent :)

[ebuild   R   ] dev-db/mergeant-0.62  USE="-debug -doc -static"
Its dependencies need a revbump btw
