Description Tom Hendrikx 2006-05-11 04:47:52 UTC
Both packages get into an infinite loop during compilation, forever repeating the steps (example from gnome-media):

make[2]: Entering directory `/var/tmp/portage/gnome-media-2.14.0-r1/work/gnome-media-2.14.0/po'

make[2]: Entering directory `/var/tmp/portage/gnome-media-2.14.0-r1/work/gnome-media-2.14.0/po'

This looks like it is the same problem as described in bug #114477, and using the fix from http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-411627.html as mentioned works and lets the ebuild continue its work.

NB. After the menioned fix, gnome-media gets another problem concerning @INTLTOOL_LIBDIR which makes the ebuild fail, but that looks like a separate problem to me. Please request if you need more information about it. The cowbell emerge finishes normally.

Please, one ebuild = one bugs next time. Thanks. ;)

people who have this bug:

is the time on your machine correct?

I have syncronized it with the ntp server time.ien.it, I also tried to compile gnome-media with distcc disabled and the problem still remain.

I synchronized and tried again, same results.
Comment 8 Anders Leiden 2006-05-14 00:58:34 UTC
The infinite loop problem might be caused by a dependecy problem. I tried installing a few of the ebuilds ACCEPT_KEYWORDS '~x86' emerge -p gnome implies to be built after gnome-media by name:

Problem and resolusion:
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS '~x86' emerge gnome -> make-loop in gnome-media
(build of gnome-media keyboard-interrupted)
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS='~x86' emerge pango zenity libsoup gnome-themes \
gnome-keyring libxklavier intltool
(continue with rest of ebuilds in gnome)
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS '~x86' emerge gnome
This resolved at least the infinite-loop problem in gnome-media.

Same problem with gnome-media-2.14.0-r1 on hppa, upgrading dev-util/intltool to 0.34.2 did the trick for me.
Comment 10 Tom Hendrikx 2006-05-14 15:11:45 UTC
Fixed here (on x86) too by upgrading to intltool-0.34.2
Comment 11 Henrique Rodrigues 2006-05-14 16:17:26 UTC
The upgrade fixed for me too on ppc.
Comment 12 Saleem Abdulrasool (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-15 14:09:39 UTC
This has been fixed in portage. Thanks for the bug report.
