I have a Shuttle XPC box that has an ATI Xpress 200 chipset in it and was wondering if somebody could help me get it working. Processor: AMD Athlon FX-55. Video (lspci): 01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RS480 [Radeon Xpress 200G Series] ati-drivers version is at: 8.24.8 Kernel Version: 2.6.17-rc3 fglrx modules seems to load fine and pulls in agpgart as well (do I even need agpgart? My box has PCIe slot for video) The problem is rather severe: After running aticonfig whenever I start X the screen goes black, I lose video signal and when I hit a key text console comes back displaying the tail end of a kernel panic. I never get any X11 or graphics at all, not even the hatched grey start up. This has always been the behavior of the fglrx module ever since it actually started to compile completely. Any ideas (other than buy an nividia card ;-)?
f
f??
Please do not file anything more then normal on binary packages, there is hardly anything we can do about issues with them, if you could get us the kernel panic and maybe then we can address it.
Created attachment 87203 [details] Kernel panic text Ok, here's the text of the kernel panic as requested. I hope it helps. My box doesn't have a serial port (and the PCI serial card I had didn't work) so I had to adjust the console font small and I hand copied as many lines as would fit on the screen. Hopefully this helps somebody track down the problem. I can't figure anything useful out from this other than it looks like some sort of IRQ problem inside the fglrx modules (from the Call Trace portion).
