I downloaded sdk as it asaid and install finished fine without any more errors,
but program will not run

I have had the same results.  Using information obtained from the forums, I got
rid of this error by re-emerging jikes, ant, and portagemaster.

Can't reproduce this; you may have a borked CLASSPATH.
