Description Stijn Tintel 2006-04-25 21:47:50 UTC
When I use 'gnomesu', the program does NOT respond when I click any of the buttons. Hitting the 'X' button in the upper right corner makes the window dissapear, but the program keeps running.

When starting 'gnomesu' from a terminal, I can see these warnings:

(gnomesu:25201): libglade-WARNING **: could not find signal handler 'on_gtk_command_textbox_activate'.

(gnomesu:25201): libglade-WARNING **: could not find signal handler 'on_gtk_password_textbox_activate'.

(gnomesu:25201): libglade-WARNING **: could not find signal handler 'on_gtk_ok_button_clicked'.

(gnomesu:25201): libglade-WARNING **: could not find signal handler 'on_gtk_cancel_button_clicked'.

(gnomesu:25201): libglade-WARNING **: could not find signal handler 'quit_program'.

After clicking the 'X' button in the upper right corner, I still needed to do a 'Ctrl-c' to kill the program.

Comment 2 Daniel Gryniewicz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-04 14:50:13 UTC
Works fine here. Try a revdep-rebuild?
Comment 3 Stijn Tintel 2006-05-05 08:53:15 UTC
I've tried a 'revdep-rebuild', which only remerged "ffmpeg". After that, I manually remerged "gnomesu". Unfortunately, this didn't solve my problem. Anything else I can try?
Comment 4 foser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-05 09:13:46 UTC
This is one of those apps that needs -Wl,--export-dynamic .

The neat solution is to add gmodule-export-2.0 to the pkgconfig checks in gnomesu.
Comment 5 Niels van Aert 2006-05-14 23:46:43 UTC
I am getting the same error as described here. As the solution is described above I would suggest updating the ebuild and releasing a new one or either masking the current ebuild however that would break gnome-cups-manager.

I'd like to confirm that running:

# LDFLAGS="-Wl,--export-dynamic" emerge gnomesu

helped to resolve this problem for me, so the program runs fine now.
Thanks a lot!
Comment 7 Dave Shanker 2006-05-27 14:28:31 UTC
Verified solution works and doesn't break net-print/gnome-cups-manager-0.30

Regards,

This also solved the bug for me.
Comment 9 Christian Faulhammer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-06-29 02:29:48 UTC
Helped here, too.

Fixed in gnomesu-0.3.1-r2
Comment 11 Róbert Čerňanský 2006-12-28 09:12:04 UTC
Shouldn't it be stabilized? It is almost half a year since it was fixed.

(0.3.1-r2 works for me on amd64 and 0.3.1 have the described bug)

Use gtksu (or similar) instead, as gnomseu will vanish.

1. gtksu does not exist in standard portage tree.
2. gnomesu is the first a user might find when searching for GUI frontend for su
3. Unless the package is marked as stable the ebuild of the old gnomesu-package should be changed to use LDFLAGS="-Wl,--export-dynamic" as standard, because adding LDFLAGS="-Wl,--export-dynamic" emerge gnomesu to make.conf cause big troubles with a couple of other packages.

Then take similar and use "gksu".
