Description eric.williams 2006-04-21 14:38:18 UTC
As far as I can tell from running the libtool command manually with --debug instead of --silent as transcripted during the emerge, it's trying to do a hard link from $PORTAGE_TMPDIR to something in /usr/share. This obviously doesn't work across partitions, and since the link is some sort of a lock the build process gets stuck in a sleep/test loop.

A workaround:

mkdir /usr/share/Temporary
PORTAGE_TMPDIR=/usr/share/Temporary emerge apr-util;
rm -rf /usr/share/Temporary

The build of apache 2.0.55-r2 is also showing this problem.
